GST has come as a challenge for government auditor CAG - GST NEWS
New Delhi, Feb 4. India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Rajiv Mehrishi said on Monday that the goods and services tax (GST) has emerged as a challenge for the government auditor because it has to work on big data .
However, with this, Mehrishi said that opportunities are also available from the new indirect tax system because it is possible to audit 100 percent of the data available on the single platform.
Addressing the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Indian Institute of Chartered Accountancy (ICAI), he said, "GST is a challenge. For this, the CAG has been prepared very well. This is a challenge because it has to work on big figures. The interesting thing is that this is an interesting challenge.
"Mehrishi said," So far, when we used to audit the revenue and expenditure of any state, it was quite easy. Now there is a new element attached to it, which is neither central nor state but it has ownership of both. "
