Despite Demonetisation and GST, people want economic reforms : ET Budget Survey


According to the ET Online Survey, despite the problems faced by reforms such as Demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST), people want the government to move forward on reforms.
A total of 10,506 people participated in this online survey.

Q.1  'Does India need more economic reforms?'

 Ans:- The answer to this question was 78 percent by saying 'yes, a lot more'. Only 19 percent of the people said that the government can work on the existing reforms, while 3 percent can not take the decision. People are hoping that the next government will also focus on economic reforms.

Q.2  What is your main expectation from the new government that comes to power next year?

Ans:- In response to this question, 47 percent of the people said they want more economic reforms. 35 percent said that the next government should focus on generating more employment opportunities. 16 per cent want to be encouraged by businessmen and small entrepreneurs. Only 2 percent expressed the desire for agricultural debt waiver.

According to the survey, gravity is not against reforms such as Demonetisation and GST. This may be the reason that people want more economic reforms. '

Q.3 Has GST overcome initial hiccups?

Ans:- In reply to this, 62 percent said 'yes' and 25 percent did not answer 'no'. Likewise, most people participating in the survey believe that note-making is not a failure. Was the note-making successful? In response, 29 per cent said 'yes', 35 per cent said partial success, 32 per cent responded negative, while 5 per cent did not decide.

Demonetisation and GST had an impact on the business. Especially on medium and small enterprises. A lot of people are also employed. However, there is no negative image of ban on bondage, especially among the poor A few months after the Demonetisation, the BJP won a massive majority in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Due to complex procedures, GST had a bad effect on the business, but the government gradually eased the process and gave relief to the small businessmen.
