Addressing the program of Assocham here, Mr. Joseph said that we have initiated measures to stop GST abusive from April and so far have gotten a evasion GST of Rs 12,000 crore. This is a very big amount compared to the time of the Central product or service tax. Abuse is being done on a large scale. There are many smart people out there who know how money can be put in pocket.

Joseph, who investigated the investigation in the CBIC, said that tax officials have recovered the nearly Rs 8,000 crore GST evasion. GST was implemented on July 1, 2017. Joseph said that only five to ten percent of the 1.2 million GST taxpayers are abusing it and the industry's name is being spoiled. We need to improve the compliance system.

The industry's concerns that the whole GST process will change after the change of government, Joseph said that your concern is that the result will be good for GST or worse, I want to make it clear that whatever the politicians are, whether they are in power or All in the opposition have come together and implemented it. However, there may be laws or some procedural changes.
