GST migration window open till Aug 31 - GSTNEWS

Panaji: Business houses and traders who had missed migrating to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime have been given yet another opportunity to do the needful.

The office of the state GST (erstwhile commercial tax department) has issued a notification offering existing taxpayers a window till August 31 to complete their migration to GST, state GST commissioner Deepak Bandekar said.

“This is the final opportunity to all such tax payers who did not complete their migration to GST by December 31, 2017,” Bandekar said. “Such taxpayers should immediately contact the deputy commissioner of state tax in their local jurisdiction ward office.”

In its 28th meeting, the GST council approved the proposal to open the migration window for taxpayers who have filed Part A of form GST REG-26, but not Part B of the said form.

Such taxpayers are required to approach the jurisdictional central tax or state tax nodal officers with the necessary details on or before August 31.

Bandekar said that no penalty would be imposed on those traders or business entities who do not register with the state GST department.

“Taxpayers are requested to avail this last opportunity for completing their migration to the GST regime,” Bandekar said. “No new extension or opportunity will be given in the future.”
